COVID-19 Update – April

April 11, 2020

We realized it had been too long since we have done an update for our website.   We just posted to our Facebook page, and that’s the easiest and quickest place for us to keep everyone up to date ( https://www.facebook.com/NorthwestArtCenter/photos/a.179541532067712/3214493781905790/ ):

We want to thank everyone who has supported us for the last month! We very much appreciate your donations and offers of help

We continue to offer online classes for our current core students and will do so for as long as we can.

The State of Washington has deemed us a “non-essential” business, and so we do have to shut down our online store for to-go art kits, sadly.   We follow the Riverview School District’s schedule and if they are closed (and they are thru the end of the school year), then we are closed.

We continue to work on ways to keep our nonprofit alive while we are shut down. We have applied for all the things that we can apply for in terms of grants and forgivable loans. We’re reducing our overhead where we can.  But, as a small business that really puts the ‘non’ in nonprofit , we still have bills to pay.  And will have bills to pay every month.

We are working on more creative ways to provide our creative services in an online manner so stay tuned!

We simply do not have any idea what the Summer landscape will look like in terms of offering in person camps, but we’re coming up with some plan b’s, c’s and d’s to the best of our abilities.

In all honesty, this is the longest time we have been without steady program income in our history since 2010.  Even at the best of times, we have always had to do fundraising and grant writing to cover our bottom line.   It’s an uncertain, scary time for everyone but we continue to keep fighting for every little bit of relief, savings, and income where we can.   We miss you all very much!

Until then, we certainly would appreciate continued help: https://northwestartcenter.org/donate/ Thank you!

Wishing you and your family wellness and creativity,
