Melody is taking a break for Fall 2019 classes for the first time in years from teaching regular monthly classes but will fill in as needed as a substitute teacher.
Melody was born to a family of artists. While growing up, weekend art shows and museums were the norm, heavily influencing her choice to pursue art as a career. Melody attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and the University of Florida, where she earned a bachelor of fine arts degree. She then spent nearly a decade hand painting fabrics, wall covering, and furniture for the interior design trade.
While she greatly enjoyed this line of work, a move from one corner of the United States to the other created an opportunity to explore other mediums. After enrolling in a local pottery class, she was hooked. In 2008, Melody started her own business, Cocoa Marie, an art studio where she creates pottery and wearable art.
Melody has enjoyed all her adventures in art but her favorite adventure has been joining the teaching staff at Northwest Art Center. She truly loves teaching art to children–watching them discover and explore their own creativity.
