Valley Art Show Update
Dear friends,
As you know, the 2014-2015 academic year has been rather monumental for Northwest Art Center. While we are settled in to our brand new space, we still have some significant projects on our plate which have some urgency and will consume quite a bit of our time and resources in the coming months. For the past couple of years, we have been talking in-house about taking some time off from Valley Art Show (VAS) in order to re-think its scope and purpose. Given our time constraints this year along with the cost of implementing VAS (roughly $6K), it feels like 2015 might be a good year for us to put VAS on hold.
We want to make sure you all know how much we appreciate the time and energy you have dedicated to making VAS a valuable community event. As we get closer to the summer and the end of the academic year, we will be reaching out to see if community members would be interested in participating in a strategy meeting to discuss ways in which we can make VAS a more sustainable, scalable event. These components are especially important as Duvall is on the cusp of another expansion and the list of participating businesses is sure to grow.
We realize that folks may be disappointed in our decision and we’re truly sorry for that. We are fortunate that the school districts, local arts nonprofits, and the Duvall Cultural Commission will be hosting spring and summer arts events which will allow local artists of all ages to be recognized for their talent and creativity.
Thanks again so much for your time, efforts and your understanding.
Best regards,
Alison Hawkins, Board President
