Melanie Pollon

Melanie began working with clay in 1994 and continues to be fascinated and inspired by its infinite possibilites.  Initially, she mostly worked on the pottery wheel but when she began teaching in 2003, she explored the many methods of handbuilding and sculpting as well.  Working with clay is such a tactile medium and Melanie loves sharing the clay experience and magic of the kiln with both children and adults.

Melanie began teaching at the Northwest Art Center when the doors opened in 2004. She has also taught clay classes in several arts programs at local schools as well as taking clay classes to students and scout troops in the greater Seattle area.  While her main medium is clay, Melanie has enjoyed learning more about drawing and painting from the other instructors at the art center.  She has a homebased studio, Revel in Clay, where she produces both functional and decorative work.  Melanie is also an avid knitter and scrapbooker.
