Lizanne brings a lifelong love of hands‑on creativity to her ceramics practice. Before discovering pottery, she spent many years working as a lawyer and executive, roles that demanded precision and structure. Clay offered something different — a chance to slow down, experiment, and embrace the joy of making without a screen or a script.

Over the years, Lizanne explored photography, sewing, painting, crochet, upholstery, gardening, and more. But when she found pottery five years ago, it quickly became her favorite creative outlet. She loves the meditative rhythm of the wheel and the satisfaction of shaping a form that didn’t exist an hour earlier.

Lizanne is especially drawn to sgraffito, a technique that involves carving through layers of slip to reveal the clay beneath. She enjoys the contrast, the texture, and the element of discovery that comes with each piece. Like many artists, she’s still learning, experimenting, and occasionally sacrificing a mug in pursuit of a perfect line — and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
