Carol Ross

My artistic journey began in childhood, but after careers in both cardiology and Montessori education, I was fortunate to return to art in the early 1990s. I started with ceramics and soon expanded into printmaking and painting. A workshop in Arizona introduced me to the process that ultimately captured my heart—Ink on Clayboard—a medium that beautifully blends the feel of printmaking with the soul of painting. I’ve since had the pleasure of teaching this method in Missoula, Montana; Lincoln City and Cannon Beach, Oregon; and throughout Washington State, working with students ranging from age 10 to seniors.
Ink on Clayboard offers a deep dive into value study, one of the cornerstones of successful painting. The process invites you to reveal an image on the panel with simple tools, minimal mess, and maximum creative joy.
