Makenzie was born, raised and taught in Western Washington, though is now enjoying the beauty of our valley. She found her passion for art and handicrafts from as far back as she can remember. She has been taking art classes for 15+ 23+ years from fundamentals to specified mediums, though she has had a life long passion for watercolor painting.

Over 20 years ago, she found a joy for Fiber Arts which was reinvigorated in 2020 when she moved to the valley and got to meet so many inspiring fiber artists, educators and farms.

She taught off and on in an individual basis until 2024 when she began working along side an Early and Special Education teacher at Labyrinth Co-op, teaching the basic fundamentals of arts and crafts as connected to classic children’s books and seasonal themes. She has also been teaching her own Exploring Fiber Arts class for Middle grade-Adult students.

New to Northwest Art Center, she is so excited to work within such a beautiful and supportive community and to create art with her young students and have fun learning the fundamentals of art. She strives to create a classroom that is supportive, confidence building and encourages exploration through process based art.
